Jayden and I had an amazing opportunity today! We were given an all inclusive, backstage tour of the Tonight Show Studio. How did we arrange this, you ask...., well it is all in who you know. Jayden's tiger cub den leader hooked us up with a very personal tour of the studio. Her husband is the sound engineer on the set. Not only does he mic Jay Leno himself, but he also mics every star coming to visit the stage.
We entered the studio lot and were given V.I.P. guest parking. It was front and center parking, just in front of the doors to the studio. Lance then met us at the front and brought us back to the studio building. Our first photo opp of the tonight show studios was standing in beside the car that Jay drove onto the lot that morning.
Entering the studio itself was a pretty aw inspiring thing. After watching the show for years, but never attending a taping, it was really cool to see in person!
Then came Jayden's favorite part. Not only was he allowed to touch the camera equipment, but he was given headphones and taught how to operate the zoom, etc on the camera. To top off the experience, Lance's brother, who heads up the cameras, was on the other end of a headphone and gave Jayden instructions on where to shoot the camera and when to zoom in or out. Check out the joy on his face. (This one will be hard to top)
We were taken to every sound booth, production room, editing room that there is to see. All along the way, the men were so incredible with our little scouts! They allowed the boys to touch every nob and button in sight! It was such an incredible experience.
Unfortunately, Jay was still working on his monologue and could not be bothered to come out to take a picture with us, but we did get the next best thing. We were given special permission to sit in Jay's seat. Lance even put Jay's special microphone on the desk for our photo opp. He then took each of our pictures while we were interviewed across the desk. This was very fun!
(And as a side note....My Jay is much cuter!)
