League Champions

Farm Dodgers pull off the league championship win this spring! The last game was the do or die game that would determine if they won the championship. In the first inning, Jayden tagged two kids out at home, with the catcher, Mayur making an additional out, only allowing one run. The second inning, Jayden got into a better rhythm with his pitching and struck out three players, ending the inning. Third inning we were up 10 to 1, so we stuck to the 5 runs to end the inning rule, but allowed the other team to have unlimited runs. We still won despite giving them that advantage.

Jayden's favorite position is pitcher, with his second favorite being catcher. He has done extremely well as pitcher, but the most improvement I have seen this season is in his catching. He really learned how to stop that ball at all costs, saving many runs from coming in!

The first half of the season, Jayden was stepping out of the batters box and not hitting the ball. He can hit just about every ball when an adult would pitch to him, but was too afraid of getting hit with kids pitching! One game we finally bribed him with one dollar for every hit. He made two dollars that game! After that, Jayden stepped it up as a batter and did well. It was fun to see his fear melt away as he had great success with batting that game!

It has been busy, but fun baseball year. Allen enjoyed assisting Peter Belz in coaching the team. We have all made new friends and look forward to more baseball next season.
