Mount Vernon

We left the Williamsburg Plantation very early in the morning to allow us time to tour Mount Vernon before turning in our rental car back in D.C.

This was the first day Mount Vernon was decorated for Christmas, so we dressed up attempting to get a Christmas card picture once again. We found a patriotic tree in the lobby that we loved, but the lighting was pretty harsh, so it made the blog, but not the Christmas card photo list.

We were not allowed to take photos inside George Washington's home. It was so cramped and a very quick tour, so I am not sure I would have gotten any decent picture anyway. It was great to be able to see his beautiful, peaceful home on the Potomac River. The views of the river were breathtaking!

We would have loved to have had more time to soak up all they had to see in the museum on the grounds. They had used Washington's death mask and other info to form wax figures of Washington and using age progression science they made figures of him at various time periods of his life to show what he would look like.




I snapped this picture of Jordan in front of Washington's home while we waited to get on our tour. I had to include it because I think he looks posed for a magazine shoot or something. He is my handsome young man!

After leaving the museum way sooner than we would like to, we were then glad we had sacrificed some sleep to get to Mount Vernon early.... the lines were extremely long by that point!

We then headed to our next stop, the J.W. Marriott on Pennsylvania Ave. Here is a picture outside our window.
